Job vacancies in travel companies

  • Interns - Responsible Travel: Only through funded third party - Brighton, UK
  • Work experience - Responsible Travel: Unpaid 1 week placement - Brighton, UK

If you are considering applying take a look at what our staff and former staff say about us on Indeed and Glassdoor.

Please note: Responsible Travel is based in Brighton, England (we do not have offices elsewhere). We do not operate tours so we do not employ guides, tour leaders, activity co-ordinators, trip organisers, or anyone outside the UK.

Internships

UK law requires employers to pay the National Minimum Wage for any kind of work, including internships or placement schemes.

At present we are only able to offer internships that are fully funded by a third party. We are sorry that we are unable to consider applications for internships where full funding is not already in place. We work mainly with Sussex university, who offer fully funded internships to their students and Erasmus.
Internship applications:
Sorry, all current internship positions have been filled so we're not currently accepting applications for internships. (The only exception to this is the funded University of Sussex placements where advertised by the university.)

Work experience

We do offer up to 4 students a year the opportunity to gain work experience at our offices and we prioritise these to our local schools and colleges. Due to popular demand we are already fully booked for 2023 and so are unable to offer any further placements. Work experience placements do get booked up very fast so if you are interested in a placement in 2024 and are at a local school in Brighton do contact us as early as possible.

Those on work experience are under no contractual obligation to perform work or provide services and the primary aim is to give you the opportunity to shadow members of the various teams at Responsible Travel. We may come to informal arrangements with someone to carry out a specific task. You offer your time and effort for free. People on work experience do not qualify for the national minimum wage and placements are unpaid. Further details:-

  • There will be no specific hours of work and the opportunity is only open for up to one full week
  • There will be no outline duties that you are expected to perform
  • We will not rely on work experience placements to fulfil real jobs
  • Placements are up to one week in duration (we are a small team, from experience this is enough)

Work experience applications:
Sorry, all current work experience positions have been filled. If you are at a local school or collage to apply for 2024 work experience for one week, please send a covering letter, your CV with details of your specific work interests and what dates you will be available to lyn@responsibletravel.com as soon as possible.

Hear from one college student Maisie, who tells us how she got on at Responsible Travel during her week of work experience.
