Next, head for the Makalali Private Conservancy in the Greater Kruger region for safari. Your last destination is one of Africa’s most iconic sites, Victoria Falls. Explore this iconic waterfall and its surrounding areas through scenic hikes, helicopter rides and adrenaline activities, such as abseiling and ziplining.

From the spirited city of Cape Town to valleys of vineyards to game drives in the world-famous Kruger National Park, Southern Africa has so much to offer travellers, that you’ll find it difficult to leave.

Itinerary

Day 1:Arrival in Cape Town - Upon arrival in the city, you’ll either be transferred directly to your accommodation or, if you prefer, we can arrange for you to drive your hired car to your accommodation from there. You are free to explore Cape Town at your leisure during the reminder of the day. Visit the iconic Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, see penguins at Boulders Bay or enjoy a meal at one of the fantastic restaurants along the promenade at Camps Bay.
Day 2-3:Explore Cape Town - You may wish to summit the iconic Table Mountain for breathtaking, scenic views of Cape Town or gain an insight into the lifestyle of the residents of Langa. You could even visit Robben Island, home to the infamous prison where Nelson Mandela spent 18 years, and explore the four Clifton beaches and the nearby Camps Bay. After exploring Cape Town, drive to the historic towns of Stellenbosch, Franschoek and Paarl, known for their famous vineyards and trendy restaurants.
Day 4:Fly to Kruger - After breakfast, its time to catch your flight to the Greater Kruger region. Meet our representative on arrival and drive to an exclusive camp situated in the Makalali Conservancy, a private reserve located in the Greater Kruger region (90 kilometres west of Kruger National Park).
Day 5-6:Safari in Makalali Conservancy - Head out on an early morning safari with an expert guide. Have a picnic breakfast in the bush, before returning to your camp where you can relax by the pool before lunch - then return for another safari trip in the afternoon. Look out for a variety of wild animals, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, white and black rhinos, hippos, cheetahs, crocodiles, hyenas, wild dogs, zebras, giraffes and several species of buck. If you’re feeling adventurous, you may even wish to take a flight on a microlight and experience Makalali from the air and see its abundant wildlife.
Day 7:Fly to Victoria Falls - Transfer to the airport after breakfast and board a short flight to Livingstone, located on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls. You will be met by a representative and driven to your safari lodge, located on the banks of the Zambezi River. The lodge is a fantastic base from which to see the majestic Victoria Falls and the mighty Zambezi River.
Day 8-9:Explore Victoria Falls - Seeing the falls up close is a truly exhilarating experience! Walk along the footpaths and stop by at various viewpoints to see the falls from different perspectives. One of the best lookout points is from the Knife Edge Bridge, from where you can enjoy a clear view of the waterfall as well as Boiling Pot, from where the river tumbles down to the Batoka Gorge. Be prepared to get soaked and feel your heart race as you cross the Knife Edge Bridge! You may wish to experience a game drive in Victoria Falls National Park, enjoy lunch and a guided walk on a local Island and follow a mountain bike trail to a local village. You might even want to participate in more adventurous activities such as white water rafting, kayaking, or bungee jumping.
Day 10:Depart Victoria Falls - You’ll be transferred back to Livingstone Airport after breakfast for your onwards flight back home.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

On this tour, you will be visiting multiple national parks and areas of natural beauty.

Although tourism has developed in each of them, it has done so in a manner that is respectful to both the species living there, as well as the ecosystems themselves. All of the properties (and sometimes even the guides themselves) featured in this tour have been hand-selected by our team, on account of their commitment to conservation and education. This includes (but is by no means limited to): ensuring that guests discover wildlife from a respectful distance; educating visitors to conduct themselves in a way that does not cause the wildlife any distress; staying at properties which seek to have a light impact on the world around them (for instance, through renewable energy sources, the use of recycled or responsibly-sourced materials in their construction); and exploring the parks via designated roads, thus protecting the flora and fauna of the region.

Our offices in the UK and in Bangkok take a leading role in setting the standard for an environmentally friendly work environment. Alongside ensuring that our waste is appropriately recycled, we have instituted a paperless work system, in which paper usage is kept to a bare minimum. We have also implemented a plastic ban in our offices, starting with coffee cups and single-use plastic drinks bottles, and expanding to encompass food packaging as far as possible. Each office has a designated ‘sustainability officer’, who helps to implement programmes and answer questions, whilst all team members are able to set the environmental agenda by highlighting their ideas on a specific sustainability channel in our internal communications network.

People

Whilst we are always trying to ensure our guests experience the best properties and destinations possible, our ethos about responsible travel is extremely important to us.

We have selected the properties on this itinerary with sustainable and responsible tourism in mind. In Cape Town you will enjoy the region's food and wine whilst supporting local suppliers and traders. The hotels also make a huge effort to train and employ local staff. In the Kruger we work with selected camps and lodges who make a concerted effort to recruit their staff from within the local community, providing jobs and sharing the benefits of tourism.

As a company we are founded in the roots of providing responsible and sustainable holidays. This means we seek to partner with local suppliers who provide fair wages, to use accommodation where community and environment are considered and.. in short.. to look at every opportunity for making our holidays as fair to local people and places as possible.
